  • Fluoride For Kids

    June 12, 2015

Fluoride is natural. Fluoride can be found in the earth’s crust, water and air.  Our bodies need fluoride to grow.  Fluoride is also good for your teeth.

Single toothFluoride helps your teeth when they are growing.  This prevents tooth decay.  Fluoride can help protect teeth from sugar in the foods you eat.

Scientists discovered that in areas where fluoride was naturally in the drinking water, kids had fewer cavities.  Communities started putting fluoride in their water supplies to protect against tooth decay in the mid-1940s.

So how do you get your fluoride?  You can use a fluoride toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash to enjoy some cavity protection.  Your Dentist may also recommend supplements if your drinking water does not have fluoride in it.

The good news is that fluoridated water reduces cavities in kids by up to 60 percent.  And no cavities mean healthier teeth!
