    One in every 12 Americans has asthma, a chronic lung disease that inflames airways, affect breathing and can lead to death. In the fall, as the flu season begins, its symptoms become more severe. The colder, dryer weather allows for greater exposure to triggers that can cause an attack. An increase in the number of people with asthma has occurred, especially in young children and those living in cities.

    Protecting Your Child From the Enterovirus

    At least 691 people have been diagnosed with Enterovirus D68 since the outbreak began in August. Of those cases, five of them have died. Almost all these cases have been among children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. New York is one of the 46 states where this disease has been found.
