• Statin Therapy for Patients with Cardiovascular Disease

  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is a leading cause of death in the United States (Murphy et. al., 2018). Diabetes further increases the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

The Statin Therapy for Patients with Cardiovascular Disease(SPC) HEDIS® measure identifies individuals with clinical atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) who are receiving statin therapy and adhered to their statin medication for at least 80% of the treatment period. It is important to ensure that your patients have the necessary prescriptions to improve compliance with the SPC measure.

Please review the SPC HEDIS®/QARR Tip Sheet in the Provider Toolkit to learn more about what the SPC measure entails.
